J&J stops production of his talcum powder, weighs lawsuits

Johnson & Johnson has decided to stop production of its baby powder from 2023. A decision taken after several lawsuits accusing the product of causing cancer due to the presence of asbestos.

The American pharmaceutical and personal care products giant is opting to promote a powder based on corn starch, which has already been launched in the American and Canadian markets.

“We continue to evaluate and optimise our portfolio to be better positioned for long-term growth. This transition will help simplify our product offering.” - the company says - reiterating that it continues to believe its traditional talcum powder is safe.
